Celebrate National Pet CBD Day on April 21, 2025

The Evolution of National Pet CBD Day: A Brief History

National Pet CBD Day is a day dedicated to celebrating the benefits of cannabidiol for our furry friends. The history of C.B.D. dates back thousands of years, with the first documented use of cannabis in medicine dating back to ancient China in 2737 B.C. Chinese Emperor Sheng Neng used cannabis-infused tea to treat various illnesses and improve cognitive functions.

In more recent history, Irish physician William B. O’Shaughnessy published research in 1839 on the potential medical benefits of cannabis, paving the way for further studies on cannabinoids. In 1937, the U.S. government began prohibiting marijuana use, but research continued, leading to the isolation of C.B.D. and T.H.C. in the following decades.

As the benefits of C.B.D. became more widely known, states in the U.S. began taking steps to decriminalize and legalize cannabis for medical and recreational use. Today, 19 states have passed laws to legalize cannabis for recreational use.

National Pet CBD Day serves as a reminder of the long history of cannabis and its potential benefits for both humans and animals. It is a day to celebrate the advancements in research and the growing acceptance of C.B.D. as a natural remedy for pets.
