Topsail Island Couple Opens All-Encompassing Pet Care Business

A Topsail Island couple has recently opened a new pet care services business that aims to provide a wide range of services for pets in the community. Crystal Witt and Neil Dakake, along with their two dogs Tiger Joe and Cash, have launched Woofie’s, a professional pet care services industry that offers pet sitting, dog walking, and mobile pet spa services.

The couple, who have a background in healthcare and franchising, saw a need in the community for comprehensive pet care services. Witt, a former pediatric nurse, and Dakake, a franchise consultant, decided to combine their passion for animals with their business expertise to create a one-stop shop for pet parents.

The idea for Woofie’s came about after the couple struggled to find mobile grooming services for their own dogs, particularly Tiger Joe who is anxious. They also had a negative experience with a pet sitter while traveling, which further motivated them to provide reliable and trustworthy pet care services for others.

Woofie’s of Greater Jacksonville, which serves pets from all over ENC, offers a variety of services including mobile grooming, pet sitting, and dog walking. The couple employs AKC-certified groomers who are trained to work with anxious pets, as well as pet CPR and first aid trained staff.

In addition to their standard services, Woofie’s also hosts “yappy hours” at Topsail Island Brewing, where pet parents can enjoy a beer while their pets receive grooming services. The couple is also involved in community events, such as the upcoming Summer Pawlooza event with Adoption First Animal Rescue in Jacksonville.

As local residents, Witt and Dakake are committed to supporting their community and providing environmentally friendly services. They use all environmentally friendly products and have chosen a van with a clean power system to reduce emissions and noise pollution.

For other aspiring business owners, Witt recommends taking a leap of faith and seeking out resources in the local community. She suggests joining networking groups like Coastal Masterminds and utilizing online resources and classes offered by organizations like the North Carolina Department of Labor and Department of Commerce.

Overall, Woofie’s aims to provide top-notch pet care services while also giving back to the community and supporting local causes. With their passion for animals and commitment to excellence, Witt and Dakake are excited to serve the pets and pet parents of Topsail Island and beyond.
