BioCraft’s Cultivated Ingredients Now Cost the Same as Premium Meat for Pet Food

BioCraft Pet Nutrition Achieves Price Parity with Traditional Premium Pet Meat Products
Austrian cultivated meat company BioCraft Pet Nutrition has made a groundbreaking announcement today, claiming to have achieved price parity with traditional premium pet meat products. The company has successfully reached a commercial price of $2.00 to $2.50 per pound of cultivated meat, making it competitive with premium meat for pet food.
CEO Shannon Falconer expressed her excitement, stating, “Achieving price parity and a robust nutritional profile for pets were the only elements holding back cultivated meat for the pet food industry — and BioCraft has now achieved both.”
One of the main challenges for cultivated meat companies has been lowering production costs to offer competitive prices with premium meat. To address this issue, BioCraft has focused on finding innovative solutions to make its ingredients affordable without compromising their nutritional value. By reformulating the nutrient-rich growth media used in cell cultivation to be part of the final product, the company has eliminated waste and reduced costs, ultimately enhancing the nutritional profile of the cultivated meat.
With the global pet food market expected to expand significantly in the coming years, consumers’ increasing awareness of sustainability and animal welfare has driven demand for alternative protein sources in pet food. BioCraft’s successful development of a cultivated chicken ingredient last year and plans to introduce its cultivated meat product in pet food brands in early 2026 mark a significant milestone for the industry.
As other companies like Bene Meat Technologies and Meatly gear up to launch cultivated meat products for pets, the future of pet food innovation looks promising. BioCraft’s achievement of price parity with traditional premium pet meat products signals a breakthrough moment for cultivated meat in the pet food industry.
