Mars Petcare US Issues Limited Voluntary Recall for Pedigree Dog Food Due to Metal Contamination

Mars Petcare US has issued a limited voluntary recall for 315 bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food on May 17, 2024. The recall was initiated due to the potential presence of loose metal pieces in the affected bags, posing a health risk to pets.

The recall specifically affects the 44 lb (19.9 kg) bag size of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food with a ‘best by’ date of March 4, 2025, and lot code of 410B2TXT02. These bags were sold exclusively at Walmart stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Mars Petcare US is working closely with Walmart to ensure that the impacted products are removed from store shelves and are no longer available for sale. As of now, no pet injuries or illnesses related to the affected Pedigree bags have been reported.

Pet owners are advised to refrain from using the product if they have purchased it and to monitor their pets for any signs of illness. Symptoms of foreign body ingestion in pets include loss of appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, and difficulty defecating. If any of these symptoms are observed, pet owners should contact a veterinarian immediately.
