In a heartwarming story out of Muscatine, Iowa, a therapy pig named Frankie is making a big impact at Franklin Elementary School. The adorable bow-donning piglet has been brought in to help soothe students and provide emotional support in the classroom.

Special education teacher Trina Hepker has already seen positive changes in her students since Frankie’s arrival from a farm in Des Moines. One student, third-grader Isaac Gbalea, who was once shy and had difficulty sitting down to read with the rest of the class, now finds comfort in reading to Frankie.

Principal Jason Wester initially had doubts about the idea of a therapy pig in the school, but after seeing the positive effects on student learning and relationships, he is fully on board. Frankie helps students stay calm and focused, providing a unique tool for managing emotions and promoting a successful learning environment.
