Mini Dachshund Raised by Cats Acts Nothing Like a Canine
In a heartwarming and unusual twist, one miniature dachshund named Peach is breaking stereotypes by acting nothing like a typical dog, all thanks to the cats that helped raise her.
Owner Ashley Berken adopted Peach when the family already had three cats: Ducky, Mr. Big, and Rufio. With Rufio being only a few weeks older than Peach, an instant bond was formed between the two, but all three cats played a role in raising Peach.
According to Berken, the cats love wrestling with Peach and wait eagerly by the door for her to come inside, forming what she calls a “little gang.” Despite not interacting with other dogs since being adopted, Peach quickly picked up on the cats’ habits and now, according to Berken, doesn’t have a single dog “bone in her body.”
A TikTok video posted on March 10 showcased Peach snuggled up with two of the cats, yawning as they prepared to take a nap together. In the clip, Peach displayed behaviors typically associated with cats, such as snuggling and climbing the cat tree.
Berken shared that Rufio even plays fetch with Peach, and she snuggles with all the kitties as if she is part of their pack. One viewer even pointed out that Peach’s yawn resembled a cat yawn, leading to laughter from Berken.
The heartwarming story of Peach and her feline siblings highlights the unique bond that can develop between different species of pets. It also serves as a reminder that dogs and cats are impressionable creatures who can pick up on each other’s habits when living together.
