The 10th annual Dogs for Law Enforcement Midwest Iowa seminar is currently underway in Independence, Iowa, marking the fifth consecutive year that the event has been held in the city. Law enforcement officers and K-9 handlers from all over the country, including Canada, Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, and Minnesota, have gathered for a week of intensive training and skill-building exercises.
With 74 dogs participating in various training exercises, including bite training and odor recognition, this year’s seminar is the largest yet. Chris Hicks, a seasoned decoy with 10 years of experience, emphasized the importance of watching the dogs progress and seeing handlers gain confidence in their canine partners.

Officer Chris Cass highlighted the special bond that forms between handlers and their K-9 partners, describing it as an indescribable connection that goes beyond words. The dedication and loyalty of these dogs make them invaluable assets to law enforcement teams.
The Dogs for Law Enforcement seminar not only provides essential training for K-9 units but also serves as a platform for officers to come together, share experiences, and learn from each other. The event showcases the dedication and commitment of law enforcement officers to ensuring the safety and security of their communities.
